ACCOUNT RELATED ANSWERS
Q: What is my ELMS login id/username?
A: For consistency the College of Engineering has based your ELMS userid from the University's gatorlink account
system. Thus, your ELMS login id is your gatorlink email address ([gatorlink id]@ufl.edu). However, since ELMS
is independent of the gatorlink system your password will be different. Please Note: you must have a gatorlink
id in order to access software available through the MSDNAA.
Q: What is my password?
A: MIS has no way of identifying your password since this is a completely independant system (your ELMS password is not
associated with any other account passwords, including your gatorlink password). Your initial password will be emailed
to your gatorlink email address when your account is created. If you have forgotten your password you can have it mailed
to you through the ELMS system using the Account Password Form. Remember, your ELMS
username is your gatorlink email address: [gatorlink id]@ufl.edu and your password will be emailed to this
address.
Q: I forgot my password, how do I get a new one?
A: You can have your current password emailed to your gatorlink email address through the ELMS system using the Account
Password Form . Your password will be emailed almost instantaneously. However, if you still need to have your password
reset by us, submit your name, classification, and gatorlink id using this form. If you
have an active account, a new password will be mailed to your gatorlink address by the MIS software support team within
two business days.
Q: I'm having trouble loging in, do I have an ELMS account?
A: First, be certain you are using the correct login id (being your gatorlink email address). You can submit your ELMS
userid to the Account Password Form to determine if your account has already been
created. If you are still having problems, submit your name, classification, and gatorlink id using the ELMS
account creation form. If you are a faculty or staff member, your account will be activated and an email with your
login information will be sent to your gatorlink email address. If you are a student and you have an active ELMS account,
you should supply more information about the types of login problems you are encountering. MIS will contact you for
more information if necessary.
Q: How long will my ELMS account be active?
A: Your ELMS account will be active as long as you are an eligible participant of the MSDNAA license... meaning as long
as you are a current student of the College of Engineering, enrolled in a College of Engineering class, or employeed
by the College of Engineering.
ELMS RELATED ANSWERS
Q: What is ELMS?
A: ELMS is the (e)lectronic (l)icense (m)anagement (s)ystem used to distribute the software that is a part of the MSDNAA
license. This system maintains an accurate record of software downloads and ensures the security of the MSDNAA license.
Through ELMS an encoded file containing the program software is downloaded from a server located on the University
of Florida campus and a license certificate is downloaded from the ELMS system. Both files combined allow you to install
the software on your local computer.
Q: What is e-academy?
A: E-Academy is the company that is providing the distribution system and the secure process for software downloads (ELMS).
For more information you can see their website at www.e-academy.com.
Q: Where is the cd-key / product serial number?
A: The cd-key / product serial number is included in the Purchase Confirmation email you receive and the packing
slip webpage that displays after you begin the download.
Q: I have more than one computer, can I install the same software on both/all of them?
A: You may install the software on any of the computers you own. In order to install more than once you must request a
re-install through the Support section of the ELMS website. This system was designed this way to guard against
abuse of the license.

Q: Who is eligible to participate in this license?
A: College of Engineering departments and full/part time students and faculty, as well as students taking classes offered
by the College of Engineering, can participate in this license.
Q: What software is included in this license?
A: View the software listing from the MSDNAA website here.
Q: Will Microsoft Office ever be included in the license?
A: The MSDNAA license is specifically for development software, not business applications. Thus, Microsoft Office will
not be included in the MSDNAA license. Currently, there are no plans to participate in other licensing programs which

Q: How long can I use the software I installed?
A: You are able to continue to use indefinitely any software you install on your computer while you are an eligible participant
of this license.

Q: Is there a virus scanner available through the MSDNAA?
A: Only Microsoft operating systems and development software is available through the MSDNAA. Virus scanning software as
well as many other applications are available though the UF Software website.
